ANGIOGENESIS

In April 1998, Dr. Purshotam Lal performed the first Angiogenesis procedure in India. This groundbreaking technique aids in the formation of new blood vessels at sites of blockage. The procedure involved injecting VGEF, a growth hormone, into patients who were deemed unfit for both bypass surgery and angioplasty, often referred to as “No-option” patients. In some cases, stem cells were extracted from the patient’s bone marrow and injected to facilitate angiogenesis.
