INTRAVASCULAR RED LASER LIGHT THERAPY AFTER ANGIOPLASTY

In February 2001, Dr. Purshotam Lal pioneered Intravascular Red Laser Light Therapy after angioplasty to prevent restenosis. This innovative technique involved attaching a catheter to a red laser light source, which was precisely directed to the angioplasty site.

The therapy aimed to inhibit the proliferation of smooth muscle cells responsible for restenosis, thereby improving the long-term outcomes of angioplasty procedures.
